About the Therapist

Jamie Heimos is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT™). She also brings experiences from being a former school counselor and former certified child life specialist. (Don’t worry, she’s finally found her career path!)

Jamie applies her knowledge and experiences in both the education and hospital systems to help with children, adolescents and parents navigating mental health struggles. She specializes in ages 5 through 18 and utilizes play therapy and expressive therapies in her approaches to mental health support. She has several years of experience navigating the special education system alongside parents and navigating the challenges of IEPs and 504s.

Jamie is a mom, wife, mental health advocate and LGBTQIA+ ally. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, hiking, photography, reading a variety of genres of books, spending time with her wonderful family including her daughter and dog, Murphy.

Approach to Counseling

When working with children and families, Jamie believes in working collaboratively and as a member of a team with respect to the client’s confidentiality agreements. She believes in setting realistic goals for counseling and helping individuals communicate effectively in order to find success in therapy. It is important to be willing to make change, whether big or small, when attending therapy. Jamie works primarily in ways that work best for children and adolescent through expressive and play therapy.

For therapy and counseling to be successful, it takes a commitment from family members to help support change and growth within and outside of the counseling office.

Fees: $125 per 45-50 minute session
